Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009011913 Firefox/3.0.6
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.19 (20081209)

This is a repeat of a previous bug report (349763), because I have trawled through various related bug reports (like that one), and I still can't get the behaviour I want (which I would expect to be the default).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Thunderbird using IMAP mark as deleted account, with view |Sort by date|descending|unthreaded. mail.delete_matches_sort_order is set to true.

2.Open email from middle of list in own window.

3. Click delete.

Actual Results:
Thunderbird opens the previous email in the same window. ie the email received one earlier (and lower in the list) than the deleted email.

Expected Results:
Thunderbird should open the next email in the same window. ie the email received one later (and higher in the list) than the deleted email.

Bug 349763 has apparently been verified fixed but the behaviour is still wrong for me.

For preference (ideal world) I would like the following option (in the main options - not tucked away in the config editor):

***
When I delete (or move) an email in a standalone window thunderbird should
a) close the window
b) open the next email
c) open the previous email
***

a is a popular request (see 274628 from 2004 - still has a new status)
b should (in my opinion) be the default, but I can't get it to happen at all
c is all that happens with my Thunderbird, but is the least useful option (it it shows me an email I have already read/dealt with).
