Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.14 i686; en-US; m17) Gecko/20000807 BuildID: 2000080712 skins don't work, when Mozilla is installed in a read only directory (eg /opt or /usr). Under Edit->preferences->appearence->themes there are no modern and classic skin to choose from, even if they are installed. When Mozilla is installed in a directory, where the user can write to (eg in somewhere in his home directory) every thing is fine. Thats ugly from a unix point of view, since there usually all programs are installed in a read only directory. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.install Mozilla into /opt/package 2.start it as none root 3.go to edit->preferences->appearance->themes Actual Results: there should be no skins to choose from Expected Results: there should be skins ;-)
I can't repro on 080908 Win98. This may just be the bug in which the skins don't appear in the preferences the first time you launch Mozilla. Someone with Linux, please try and repro.
Summary: skins don't work → skins don't workSkins don't appear on preferences when Mozilla is saved in read-only directory
Reproduced this exactly as described on Liunx 2000080910
I can't get this when I make my Mozilla directory read-only in Win98. However, I will confirm per G. Todd's comment.
