The new message header bar takes up a lot of room vertically, and there does not seem to be a way to set the short, one line summary.
Reproducible: Always

Yes the new header takes up more vertical space than the old one. However it displays the information in a much more understandable space, subjects and senders are no longer truncated by columns. There is new capability for extensions to be created that provide the old 1 line header and I think work towards that is going to provide the best flexibility and options for people who want the single line display back.

An extension is a very bad thing for people who use this every day. By removing it from the application and hiding it in an extension you are driving people away from the software.
Depending on screen size, font requirements, etc., the header can take 1/3 or more of the screen.
I get sick from animation, and glowing screens, and have a much easier time reading on e-ink screens. But due to the cost I only have a 152 mm vertically. I also have an astigmatism, so have to switch fonts and increase their sizes.
I think a compact header could help other users under various circumstances.
