I propose that Thunderbird add an option for showing the user's own replies in threads. The Gmail web-based email client does this, and it is very convenient for conversing with someone who does not know how to properly quote. For a detailed description of Gmail's threading with user's replies, see the heading "Viewing a conversation thread" on this page:

I want to read my email each moring as a passive process like Google Reader or gmail.. Each "Thread" is a channel, and all I have to do is scroll down to mark things as read. I can pop stars on them for conversations I want to keep going, add new responses inline. I love the idea of scrolling down instead of clicking on thread after thread.

I second this. I wouldn't even mind if Thunderbird opened a web browser in that frame (and auto logged in for me), so that I could see my multiple gmail accounts each with ease, and still have threaded conversations with my emails!!
