Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.0.9) Gecko/2009040821 Firefox/3.0.9 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.0.9) Gecko/2009040821 Firefox/3.0.9 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) If a proxy server is configured and user does not wish to save the username and password when asked, Firefox will ask for username and password when you click on a link or access a new page. However, if Firefox is closed with several tabs, when you open it, all tabs are started and *each tab* asks for the username and password. Furthermore, all the user and password windows are over each other - when user enters auth info and clicks Ok the window dissapears and an identical one appears - confusing and making that person believe the password was wrong. This problem also occurs when new updates for extensions are found but it's even worse. It seems to ask for username and password for each extension (or maybe for the maximum number of connections allowed in about.config?) but besides the regular username and password window, there was another small window (actually about three of them) shown that had no title, just username and password fields and Ok and Cancel buttons. I had to click Cancel about 12-15 times just to be able to log into Firefox. After the extension update process, Firefox asks again for user and pass when trying to open tabs, once for each tab Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure Firefox to reopen tabs when restarted 2. Open several tabs, configure a proxy with user/password and close Firefox 3. Start Firefox 4. User and Password will be asked for each page 5. If it does its extension check, there will be two different windows asking for username and passwords Actual Results: Firefox asks for user/password for each tab, and several times when looking for extension updates Expected Results: Should ask only one time for username and password and not ask simultaneously on all tabs. It's very confusing, especially as all these auth windows are exactly over each other so sometimes I believe the user/password combination is not accepted or bad (there's no indication or warning, just the proxy error message is shown in the tab - maybe it would be wise to tell the user and ask for a retry if the proxy does reply with a HTTP 500 or some error code)
