The toolkit download manager has this pref to control antivirus scanning |browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone|. We should expose this pref in the preferences UI. Possibly in Browser->Downloads->When a download completes.

No idea. I'm waiting for some consensus to form before starting to work on these two related bugs.

Well, in that other bug you were only talking about MailNews prefs (phishing and attachment anti-virus scanning) while this one is about a browser pref (or rather download pref since you can also start downloads from links within messages displayed in MailNews). However both bugs talk about anti-virus prefs. The combination of both possibilities leads us to a discussion concerning both bugs. Consequently we should first decide whether to group the prefs by the MailNews vs. Downloads pattern or the anti-virus/phishing pattern and only then go back to the individual bugs (or merge them).

Note to self: Any UI needs to be guarded by |#ifdef DOWNLOAD_SCANNER| since the scanning code is only compiled in if the VISTA SDK is included and on winnt platforms only.
