User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) I belong to a music club called yourmusic.com. Firefox version 3.5 will allow me to search for only ONE artist/song/album, and from then on, will display only a blank page after each succeeding search! This does not happen with Internet Explorer. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to yourmusic.com 2.Search for artist/song/album. 3.First search results display. 4.Search for second artist/song/album. 5.Result is a blank page. 6.Result #5 continues for every succeeding search. Actual Results: From the second search onward, I was never able to search for any other artist/song/album. Expected Results: I should be able to search for as many artists/songs/albums on yourmusic.com as I wish. This is the SECOND major bug in Firefox 3.5 that I have found in a few days that is reproducible by others (a person responding to my first report in a Mozillazine "bug" post [faulty renderings of many eBay listings] reported it as Bug #502637), which has currently rendered Firefox 3.5 useless for my purposes. 3.5 was obviously released way too soon! After posting this, I'm going back to 3.0.11!
I'm not that computer savvy, so can't actually do anything to help you, but I wish to let you know that I have checked to see if any of my add-ons are the cause of this problem, and they aren't. I hope that 3.5 will soon be ready for public use, as I would have preferred not to go back to 3.0.11.
This may be a "bug" on other search sites, too, but I don't know. I'm sorry that I can't use "computer speak".
i can confirm that there is an issue on with Fx3.5.0, but using you're mentioned steps 4./5. shows that the issue is not *that* reliable reproducable. unsure if it's a site issue, no errors but just warnings (jQuery related) appear in the error console. well, on a recent Fx3.5.1 nightly and on MC trunk it works always and shows no blank pages, so a recent bugfix must have resolved this issue. you can test this yourself by downloading a build from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-1.9.1/ or wait until 3.5.1 is released. i'm adding "regressionwindow-wanted" KW for myself to search the relevant checkin later.
Severity: major → normal
Summary: Firefox 3.5 won't allow me to search on yourmusic.com! → succeeding searches display blank page on yourmusic.com
Version: unspecified → 3.5 Branch
I have just downloaded 3.5.1 and this "bug" still exists!
In addition, this website now often will no longer even open from Bookmarks. The name appears in the tab, but just a blank page comes-up. I was hoping, per comment #3, that 3.5.1 would have fixed this problem. Please look further into this. Thank you.
Please forgive my multiple entries. I just went back to 3.0.11 to double-check, and this problem does not occur with 3.0.11--so the "bug" definitely lies with the 3.5 build series.
My STR: 1) New profile 2) http://www.yourmusic.com/search/index.html?search_type=artists&search_text=&do_search=1 (that's the one I tested with, but pretty much any page on the site will do) 3) Hard reload (ctrl+F5 on Windows) 4) Focus location bar, press enter (a normal page load, not a reload or hard reload) 5) Repeat step 4 a few times, throw in an occasional hard reload body element empty: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090727 Minefield/3.6a1pre 0322169bc93e Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090222 Minefield/3.2a1pre 3778e80a2a4e Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090201 Minefield/3.2a1pre 2cd22042f7ef Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090101 Minefield/3.2a1pre e807ec425ad7 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20081215 Minefield/3.2a1pre 8d0d5017c101 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20081213 Minefield/3.2a1pre ad710c32b0e9 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20081212 Minefield/3.2a1pre 8ff9c509ca74 no header: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20081211 Minefield/3.2a1pre f7ab24488595 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20081208 Minefield/3.2a1pre f03bb4a3ce53 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20081201 Minefield/3.1b3pre 8df5a90281cd Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081115 Minefield/3.1b2pre 6b7faccfd305 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081113 Minefield/3.1b2pre 925fe560ecce Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081112 Minefield/3.1b2pre 8242c6adbf63 good: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081111 Minefield/3.1b2pre 7d7d075d58a3 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081108 Minefield/3.1b2pre 17747605490c Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081101 Minefield/3.1b2pre 4f1383af8f10 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081015 Minefield/3.1b2pre ea37481b6803 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/20081010 Minefield/3.1b2pre 0c41c7f36d2f Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20081007 Minefield/3.1b1pre 55366228f456 no header: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20081006 Minefield/3.1b1pre 1630d60e624e Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20081005 Minefield/3.1b1pre dc71e84d6cb6 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20081001 Minefield/3.1b1pre 63b0791327ab good: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20080930093007 Minefield/3.1b1pre 99cd24b71102 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20080929033431 Minefield/3.1b1pre 15cb5d25db05 http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=f7ab24488595&tochange=8ff9c509ca74 http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=7d7d075d58a3&tochange=8242c6adbf63 http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=1630d60e624e&tochange=55366228f456 http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=99cd24b71102&tochange=63b0791327ab Four different behavior changes, all windows have a changeset that involves speculative parsing. Still need to check individual changesets to make sure. A reduced testcase would be good.
This problem still exists in build 3.5.2. I have to use the Add-on "IE Tab" in order to navigate within the noted website, yourmusic.com.
is this still an issue you can reproduce recent 3.5.x (or even 3.6 beta) builds? (moving to Core per comment 7 + Bug 364315 dependancy)
