User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 GTB5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Thunderbird/3.0b3 All the folders under [GMail] (All mail, Spam, Starred,...) ignore the subscription settings. Whether subscribed or not, these folders are always displayed. Further, the default off-line settings are not ideal, since downloading all the mail for All Mail can be pretty ridiculous. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Create a new gmail account. Get mail once to get remote folders. Go to account settings, subscriptions. Uncheck [Gmail], [Gmail]->All Mail, [GMail]->Spam, ... Click OK. Folders are still displayed. Selecting folder still causes latest mail to be loaded. Restarting thunderbird has no effect. Actual Results: When the folders are not subscribed, they are still displayed. Expected Results: When the folders are not subscribed, they are no longer displayed, and no mail bodies or headers are retrieved. There may be interplay between offline settings and subscriptions. It is confusing that these related ideas are maintained in very separate places. I am uncertain what my "offline settings" were in all cases, although I did verify that the behavior described does happen when the folders are unsubscribed AND they are listed as unsynchronized in offline settings.
"Unsubscribe doesn't work" part is DUP of Bug 493455(Read Bug 493455 Comment #8). See Bug 508836 Comment #1 for how to hide [Gmail]/xxx folders.
(In reply to comment #0) > Expected Results: >(snip) > There may be interplay between offline settings and subscriptions. (snip) >(snip) "One problem per a bug" is rule of B.M.O. Please open separate bug for your additional concern. Closing as DUP of Bug 493455.
