Please make this happen.
Kerz-- What are you thinking. Are you saying that we should tell MS to junk IE and use mozilla. That's not our job, we just bug people about using nonstandard tags that mozilla/netscape 6 won't support. Marking bug invalid.

Reopening. I agree that marketshare could increase a bit if Microsoft started using Mozilla. Hopefully they will embed it into Windows, Office, Encarta, and all of the other programs that simply can't work without embedded web browsers (despite what you THINK you recall, we never had operating systems or word processors without web browers preinstalled). I will work with Microsoft to make this happen.

Assigning to myself, and setting Blake to QA Contact. While Blake has been on vacation, I've been incessantly badgering the MS people to bundle Mozilla into every one of their software programs. I think I can make it happen. I'll attach the formal letter right before I send it over to MS.

The attached letter has several critical-severity bugs, so I doubt it will get r= from anybody. * Mozilla is not a `web browser', it is an Internet suite. * Mozilla is not `infinitely better than Microsoft Internet Explorer'. Last time I measured, it was 17.3 percent better. * As far as I know, Encarta is not part of Microsoft Office. If Encarta is indeed available in Microsoft Office 2000 Ultra-Professional Advanced Active Plus Edition, please let me know (so that I may order^H^H^H^H^Hcurse Microsoft's attempts at `integration'). * `Royalty fees will be minor in comparison to this superb browser offered to you.' Royalty fees of what? Whatchew talking 'bout, Willis? * The sentence beginning `Please respond ...' should start a new paragraph. * You have made a typo: the text`hunt you all down and kill you' should in fact read `bombard you with fluffy green lizard soft toys'. * You are not an official member of the Mozilla Organization, and claiming that you are could expose you to a number of very nasty lawyers. * The letter is in plaintext format, a format which is not known to be used or understood by anyone at Microsoft. I suggest you save as .doc or as MSHTML instead. <msxml xmlns="schemas-microsoft-com-msoffice" space-run="no">
I'm extremely sorry mpt, good thing I haven't sent the letter yet. I shall make the necessary revisions as soon as possible. And I wasn't implying that Encarta was part of Office, just that Mozilla should be bundled into it. Oh, and I was going to attach it as a .doc file, but couldn't figure out how to make an attachment like that. Will link my next letter if I can't upload it as a .doc.

Apparently Microsoft doesn't want to bundle Mozilla with everything they make. I still can't figure out why, though. I'm still working on this, and I'm preparing another proposal. Futuring this and hpping that Microsoft will turn around and I won't have to mark this as a WONTFIX.

Sorry, but no. This should have been top priority from the beginning! Marking as such!

M1? Wow. Well, since this is M1, time to revisit a few (unfortunately) memorable Bugzilla spams which have happened since M1 was released ... * `M1 has been out for a while now, these bugs' milestones need to be updated.' * `This bug has been marked "Future" because the original engineer working on this is over-burdened. If you feel this is an error, that you or another known resource will be working on this bug,or if it blocks your work in some way -- please attach your concern to the bug for reconsideration.' -- everyone@netscape.com * `Adding ue2 because i felt like it?' -- timeless@bemail.org * `Adding self to CC' -- various self-important people
May I suggest bundling a free copy of Antiword with every download of Mozilla? We will surely have won the hearts of our beloved friends when they see that we have adopted both their file format and their bundling strategy: http://www.winfield.demon.nl/index.html

I agree that this should be top priority. It would finally allow me to trash IE once and for all!
Being that I'd like Microsoft to bundle Mozilla with next revision of Office for the Mac, Office 2081, Changing Platform and OS to ALL. -d Adding random person to CC: list. Failed. He doesn't have an account. Bummer.

PDT says [mustgetfixedfor1.0-]. This is a high-visibility non-working feature, and as such we don't need it for this release. Let's redesign the Modern skin again instead. Now this is the part where you all scream and yell at me.

I think Microsoft should use Linux too.
I mark this bug fixed. Take a look at bug 75473

> I think Microsoft should use Linux too. I think they should go with FreeBSD. Once they start adding new kernel panic bugs to the OS, they'll need softupdates to avoid disk corruption.
Matti, unfortunately I can't verify this-that post is from one poster only, and as such, not independently verifiable. Plus, just because they have people that work there and use Mac Office doesn't mean they, as a company, use macs. The point here being that they should use mozilla-for all we know, that reporter was using it only to copy features off of it (heh). As such, REOPENing.

Hey can I say this shouldent be wontfix because in the unlikelely event that Mico$oft did choose to Mozilla, you woulden't be able to do any thing about it so this bug should be marked "invalid"
Yahoo today has a picture of Microsoft's new search using *firefox*. The photo text reads: This photo provided by Microsoft shows Their search tool and the prefenece rankings that can be defined by the user. (AP Photo/HO/Microsoft) Emphasis on "provided by Microsoft".
For the first time since I've gone Linux-only several years ago, this bug made me regret that I have no working Windows system anymore — so I could vote for it. What I wonder is why in h??? no one else voted for it.
Tech Evangelism bugs are not to be resolved WONTFIX, see http://www.mozilla.org/projects/tech-evangelism/site/procedures.html "Do not use WONTFIX as a Tech Evangelism resolution. Instead mark sites that have responded that they do not intend to update their content with a not-responsive in the status whiteboard."

Tony, you reopened a bug that was closed 10 years ago. I assume this was part of a mass bug update. Given the content in this bug it should remain in the resolved state. I am resolving as invalid as I do not think this bug fits in with the current tech evangelism description.

I don't think it ever *did* fit in with whatever the "goal" of TE was, but I also think WONTFIX was perfectly appropriate for a resolution.
In reply to comment #33: Hey guys, can't you take a joke? This bug is listed under "Fun bugs" at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=saved-searches So Mozilla is now "all work no play". I'll remember. :-(
Tony, that explains so much. Talk about missing the joke. :)
