STR
1. Install Firebug 1.5x.0axxx
2. enable html5 parsing in about:config -> html5.enable;true
3. load any page, right click, 'Inspect Element'
4. in Firebug style panel -> right-click, 'new property…'

Expected:
Firebug insert a blank property/value pair under the existing properties for a given selector. A text-entry box should appear for the property.

Actual result:
The text-entry box is placed right under the 'style' tab, near the top of the scrollbox.

See attached screenshot.

The tryserver build Roc posted in bug 509478 does not fix the issue.

This happens with a fresh profile with just that one about:config pref tweaked.

If this is indeed a firefox issue, shouldn't this be blocking 2.0?
Firebug 1.6a19 fixed the issue as far as Firebug is concerned.
Confirmed. Looks like it was all on firebug's side.
'k, thanks for double checking.

Marking this as WorksForMe, as the fix (and bug) is in Firebug.
