That's very useful. However if one looks at another folder (also with starts) then returns to the original folder all the stars in that folder have disappeared. returning to the other folder will show that all stars there have also disappeared. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open an Inbox. Download emails for all accounts 2.Note orange stars on new emails 3.Go to another accounts' inbox folder See stars. 4. Return to original folder and note stars have disappeared Actual Results: Orange stars marking new emails are gone! Expected Results: Orange stars should remain in all folders, regardless of user activity until new emails are collected for that specific folder/folders. Preferrably the stars should remain even if Thunderbird is closed so that on reopening the user can quickly identify the emails he had received on the last download.

Please can you upgrade to the latest nightly and test again.

this is working as designed. There are existing bugs arguing for a change in the way the "new" flag works, so this should be duped against one of those.
