Performing the following code ends up with a null value for "installButton" as the anonymous element is behind [1]/class:addonTextBox/class:addon-search-details/[1]/anonid(selectedButtons)
This is not a problem with anonymous nodes but with XBL widgets. It's the same underlaying issue as already reported in bug 477079 for templetized trees.
