I have set up an IMAP account (Gmail).
Whenever I receive new Spam (directly into the spam folder due to Gmail's spam filtering), Thunderbird doesn't bring up the new mail notification (sound, window, tray icon).
The notification obviously only works for the inbox.

Would be nice if a new mail notification for the spamfolder would be available.
Maybe with another icon (flame instead of the bird) in the upcoming notification window.

Also possible:
Give users the choice for which mail folder they want to get a notification + with which sound + which icon (like the obsolete add-on "mailbox alert" once did).

Well, I have the opposite problem: ;)
I have a folder where procmail puts all my spam. For the IMAP account, I have the "check this folder for new messages" option unchecked. So I'd expect that TB won't check the status. If it can't resist to peek into the folder I'd at least expect to not get bothered by notification alerts.

Is this the same bug somehow? I couldn't find a better matching report. (Of course, I could just open another one..)

I'm using TB 3.1.4.

Bug 311640 comment #0 requests new mail notifications on a "per account basis".
Whereas e. g. Bug 311640 comment #20 requests new mail notifications on a "per folder basis", what would make my bug report here obsolete.
But don't know into which direction Bug 311640 is going: per account or per folder basis ?
