This page ends up spending a pile of time in nsBlockFrame::ResolveBidi():

Webkit doesn't seem to have any such problem.
smontagu, jfkthame, roc, bzbarsky, fantasai, and I had a discussion at the last MoCo work week about how to fix this; see:

I'm not sure if there's another bug on it.
I think this is bug 330350.
Or bug 230609.
This also hangs firefox when viewing large hg changesets, e.g.:
