Firefox is very inconsistent in terms of providing Tabbed Browsing options to users... In the options panel, we have options like 'Always Show the Tab Bar', 'Warn when closing multiple tabs' etc., while the option to Open New Tab from Search bar is a hidden option.. and there is absolutely no option to open a New Tab from URL Bar or Bookmarks or History. Why this inconsistency? Is there a reason why a non-expert user should not be exposed to these options?
I think we should re-look at the Tab Options and provide the following additional options to users:
Open New Tabs from:
[ ] Address Bar
[ ] Search Bar
[ ] History
[ ] Bookmarks
[ ] Search
Open Links
[ ] Next to Current Tab
[ ] At the end of the Tab Bar
These are very basic browsing options, and it is not warranted for users to download an Addon for the same. Addons should be used to enhance the functionality of the browser (example: Adblock, Cooliris, Scrapbook, Aniweather etc.) rather than filling up the gaps in terms of browser options...
Reproducible: Always

This cannot be considered WONTFIX, because all this allows is access to previous functionality with tab ordering.

This is just another dupe of bug 514799.

Please consider the functionality in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=539986 as being part of this issue, then.
This way, the wizard that allows importing of IE settings can also give you the option of IE vs FF tab ordering settings by default.

Sorry. I meant issue https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=552340, not 539986.

Who requested that? See bug 514799 which clearly states that there will be no option in the UI.
Please do not file any new bugs on that change.

If there is not going to be any option to restore previous tab ordering functionality via the UI, I demand that the original tab ordering functionality be restored.
1. Have several pages open.
2. On first page, right click on link and open up in new tab.
3. On second page, right click on another link and open in new tab.
4. Do this once for each page originally open.
5. Tabs are not in order via the way they are opened.
Tab ordering is lost. And Dale said to open up a new issue.
