Details

Just tried installing MacroMedia's Flash5 player from: http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=Flash4 I've never had 4.x installed on this machine, and I had two problems installing the FlashPlayer: 1. Flash installer "Cannot find your browser's plugin directory". I had to drag it by the nose to the "Netscape 6" directory. 2. Once there, the installation didn't complete because it "couldn't find NETSCAPE.EXE". Apparently, our name change to NETSCP6.EXE isn't sitting well. (Let alone MOZILLA.EXE!) For the commercial product, should we consider changing NETSCP6.EXE back to NETSCAPE.EXE before shipping? I don't remember why we ever decided to change this in the first place (dveditz? michaell?)... I'm filing this as an "evangelism" bug, because someone probably needs to go encourage MacroMedia to rev their installer.
Actually, John Gable of Netscape Client Product Management will be working this out directly as he handles Flash bundling. DUP of bug 56112. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 56112 ***
