User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100315 Firefox/3.5.9 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Thunderbird 3.0.5 Bought a new w7 based laptop recently and tried to move my TB mailbox from XP based system (TB 2.0.0.24). I copied the mail account as indicated on the page: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder I used the first recipee (Using the Profile Manager to move your profile). It worked, however, one of my accounts shows twice (All Folders view). I don't think the mailbox including the entire folder structure and messages have 2 copies because if i switch from "sent" in the first account to "sent" in the duplicate account, nothing changes in the other panes. Removing one of the accounts through: Tools>Account Settings>Account Actions>Remove Account removed both accounts. Is there a way to get rid of the duplicate view of one of my accounts in the folder pane? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Duplicated accounts can be generated by bug 303542, and external phenomenon is different between Tb 2.0.x and Tb 3.0.x. Read bug 303542, for detail, please. Dup of bug 303542? Or different and new problem?
I looked at 303542 issue. It seemed different because i just wanted to move my mailbox to my new laptop (not adding any new account), whereas that user wanted to add a new account while keeping the mailboc from his old account. Apart from moving my mailbox from one place to the other, I decided to upgrade from TB 2 to TB 3 at the same time. Now, it is very hard to say whether somewhere under the hood these issues might be related. As it involves also the deleting, renaming of accounts (probably through the profile manager) they indeed might. And in the past when i migrated from Netscape 7 to TB i seem to remember i combined 2 accounts as well. However, these are not visible anymore as separate accounts under TB 2. Anyway, i'm afraid i'm not the one to call these shots. As I still use my old xp machine / tb 2 account to mail, maybe you could suggest a way to move the account to my w7 machine that will avoid, or "work around" the described problem. Maybe if i: 1. delete the mailbox on the new machine 2. uninstall TB 3 3. install TB 2 on the new machine 4. ... (& then what?) 5. ... and then after the move, check whether its functioning adequately/properly, and if it is, then upgrade from tb 2 to tb 3 on the new machine? Alternatively i could try to upgrade to TB 3 on my xp machine first. sounds a bit more dangerous... Any suggestions that could work are welcome! thanks!
do you see this also in v3.1? can you attach screen shot? I'm not sure I see the same thing - on my win7 new install ... with folder pane in UNIFIED mode. I see two inboxes at the top. Two accounts definfed, news and imap (plus local). news and imap do not match in any way - user name, email address, account name. I dont recall which account I created first
let's trust wada's judgement about the duplicate. MadDog is on v2 with no ETA for doing version 3. MadDog, you see this issue when you return to version 3, please update the bug(s)
