From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.14-5.0 i686; en-US; m18) Gecko/20001014
BuildID: 0000000000 (CVS 10/31/2000)
When I set up Automatic Proxy Configuration, pages will not display at all.
I've tried both a HTTP URL and a FILE URL. The HTTP URL is tested in Netscape
4.x and IE; the FILE URL is tested in Netscape 4.x.
I have never seen Automatic Proxy Configuration work properly in any Mozilla
build I've used.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a small javascript function for Automatic Proxy Configuration
2. Configure Mozilla to use this javascript function via the Preferences
(Advanced/Proxies/Automatic Proxy Configuration URL)
Actual Results: No pages will load.
Expected Results: Proper operation. :)

Here is a sample of the javascript I use for the file: URL. I store it in
/usr/local/etc/proxyconf.proxyconf
, and set my Automatic Proxy Configuration URL to
file:/usr/local/etc/proxyconf.proxyconf
