Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enable direct2d in About:config 2. Crash on startup instant every time 3. This happened with a vanilla install as well as with extensions installed.

I think it is caused by an obsolete graphic driver Please can you update your graphic driver to the latest version which is 8.16.12.0259 : http://www.s3graphics.com/en/drivers/index.aspx Then start firefox with a new profile : http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles Tell me, if it is OK
Updated to 8.16.12.202, turned on direct2d with my current profile. The driver update resolved the issue.
