User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b7pre) Gecko/20100921 Firefox/4.0b7pre
Build Identifier:
While a hyperlink is not hovered, display the title of the page in the location bar
Reproducible: Always
Solves the problem of tab space being too small.
By default, if the link covers the whole location bar, the title shouldn't show at all.
Note: A vertical line ("|") should probably separate the address from the title, similar to the ">" when hovering.

Thanks for filing this feature idea, but it doesn't block bug 587908.

It's a very good idea! W3C says the webpage's title is the very part of the page, and have to be displayed. Now it'll be displayed.
Anyway, dont you think guys that location bar will be overcrowded, and will confuse users?
And if the whole title is displayed in the tab, should we display it in the location bar, too? :S
>Anyway, dont you think guys that location bar will be overcrowded, and will
confuse users?
Yeah, that might be the only reason for not implementing this.

I think that the URL with its hierarchical struture give a lot of information to the user.
Right now the page title is in the window title, so really well exposed to the user and on a larger space than in the location bar.

It won't be in the future (check nightly builds). This is the next best thing, though.

The page title is not in the window title (titlebar) anymore. Fx button steals the space from it. And there will go the tabbar, too. See Bug 572160 .
And let's not forget that with the App Tabs, it's impossible to see the title of the page without 3rd party add-ons if this bug is not implemented.

You should check out at least the mockups...
Dominic: It's not impossible. It's accessible via tooltip, like in every tab.
