Details
In Netscape 6.0 (20001108), in Edit | Preferences | Advanced | Proxies panel,
set Automatic proxy configuration URL to http://localhost:8080/config.js, and
chose check box, then restart netscape 6.0 and enter url page, the Netscape
6.0 will not load automatic proxy configuration file so that can't load this
url page with the correct proxy server. And as Netscape 4.*, Reload button also
does not work.

So... Netscape 6.0 is long gone. Is this still a problem with a current build?
Reporter: I don't have a proxy to test this with, but can you download mozilla RC1.
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.0rc1/mozilla-win32-1.0rc1-installer.exe
And try this bug again? Please.

Works for me, using Mozilla 1.0rc1 [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0;
en-US; rv:1.0rc1) Gecko/20020417] on Windows 2000.
At least I am able to specify a URL and browse the Web afterwards. Even pressing
the button 'Reload' works, i.e. I get no error and can surf the Web.

So this one is a goner then?
I don't think so what auto proxy conf is, is a webpage that tells you how to set
up your proxy, nobody here has tested this feature besides the reporter, someone
who can actually test auto proxy conf needs to test this. Saying it doesn't
appear to be broken but I don't use a proxy, is not testing it.

johnlar,
I'm not quite sure if I understood you correct. But I can describe what I am
using here in my company: we have a proxy set-up and I entered the following in
the autoproxy configuration: proxy.<company>.de/autoproxy.pac
Mozilla (version see my last comment) is able to load that file (at least I do
not get an error) and I am able to browse the web with that configuration.
Hitting the button 'Reload' does also work (I mean, I don't get any visual
response or an error message... *shrug*).
Is this enough to resolve this bug as WORKSFORME or such?

Sorry Daniel, I had thought you meant you just put some random url there, and
didn't have a proxy. Anyways, yes, thats correct behavior, marking Worksforme.
Reporter, reopen if you still see this with RC1 or later.
