1) Let's work on a). What is you imap delete model ? 2) Anything in Tools -> Error console when this happens ? 3) can you file another bug for b)

My delete practices: > I like to mark as deleted and then expunge email boxes model for > deletion (I also use PINE sometimes, so Deleted folder /Trash bin is not > for me. I delete messaged every so often; then when I am sure I don't > want the message, I go to each individual folder and compact. Nothing in > error console that would make me suspicious.

Unified Folder is internally a Virtual Folder(Saved Search Folder). And, mixture of IMAP folder and local mail folder always happens on Unified Folder(Local Folders account is always involved) when IMAP account is defined. And, delete model of local mail folder is always equivallent to "Move to trash" of IMAP. And, highest "Order Received" column value of local mail folder(offset in mail folder ile) is usually far larger than the value of IMAP folder(UID of mail). So, if delete model of "Just mark it as deleted" is used at an IMAP account, user can usually see phenomenon of Bug 635869 on Unified Folders; Deleted mail in IMAP folder(shown with strike thru line) is shown without strike thru line(as if "not deleted") at Unified or Search folder. xref Bug 635869, confirming
