Bug 602854 has the start of a patch, but there may be more that needs to be done along these lines than is needed to just fix that bug.
There must be a dup of bug 270255 in one of these somewhere ;-)

Bug 610990 followed by bug 630083 got rid of the parsing half of the serialize-reparse cycle we had before. I filed bug 629200 for a specific idea to pursue to getting rid of the serialization part, so maybe we should just dupe this to that? Or maybe you and Jonas had a different idea on how to get rid of the serialization part, Boris?
That bug's idea is the right approach.
