The new throbber is for loading tabs and the old generalized throbber is still used in other places, including extensions. There's nothing wrong with it and no real need it change it. Bug 603659 makes some sense because the toolbar item is a tab loading throbber for the current tab. This isn't, though that's not to say I'd be against using the new one in this spot just for aesthetics if we really wanted to, but I like the old one where as it is.

You may be right. I think it makes sense to keep things uniform and the connecting/loading distinction is of some use. I just wanted to file this to give matching bugs. I figure the devs should mark it wontfix if this is contrary to their plans.

Verified that the right throbber is used in both Firefox 27 and 29.
