Prior to FF4 the URL would display at what is now called the add-on bar when you mouse over a link. The amount of unobstructed space allowed for the display of many more characters than the new implementation of showing the URL within the location bar. The problem is compounded because the current location is preserved in whole or truncated form. For example with a 1100px width window the location for opening this bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Firefox is fully visible in the location bar. The target URL https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/request.cgi?requester=ravi%40mozilla.com&requestee=ravi%40mozilla.com&do_union=1&group=type&action=queue truncates to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/...&action=queue and the current location truncates to https://bugzilla.mozill... In FF3 even with all the add-ons I use the mouse over results in a preserved current location and in the add-on bar the URL shows is https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/request.cgi?requester=ravi%40mozilla.com&requestee=ravi%40mozilla.com&do_union=1&gro... While I understand the need for the new behavior I would like to see the same presentation method (truncation in the middle vs. end) returned to the add-ons bar in addition of the location bar to preserve the same user experience from FF3.
Link-hover is in the new status-bar-like thing now, so I think this is WONTFIX.

Reopening per offline discussion. Hopefully the Initial Description makes sense here but I can expand if necessary.

Summary: Return the display of URL to add-on bar when mouse over of link → Link-hover URLs get too cropped (max-width too small?)
I'm not sure exactly why there's a 50% max-width to begin with. Seems like we could remove it, or increase it to 90% or something.
