Details

This bug is the counterpart to bug 605222. If Firefox is set by the user as the system default browser, it should register itself for the .website file type (just as it currently registers for .htm, .html, http://, etc.)
Moving to installer since that is where the majority of the work will be done. After bug 605222 adds support for .website this should be fairly simple to do.
Component: Shell Integration → Installer
Depends on: 605222
QA Contact: shell.integration → installer
Just saw that you are proposing we take over .website before support is added for opening .website files. I personally think that support for .website should be added first especially with the planned quick turnaround release cycle instead of taking over .website when we don't support it anywhere near properly though I'll leave that to drivers to decide.
These are more prominent on Windows 8. We are discussing simply taking ownership of these and ignoring the meta data stuff for now.
OS: Windows 7 → Windows 8
If we ever properly support .website files then please reopen or file a new bug.
