"FXB"?
Firefox Button. :)
There is a difference in rendering when the latest Windows 7 updates are applied. I think that'll be enough to resolve this appropriately.

Summary: Text in FXB is bold when DW is enabled → Text in Firefox Button is bold when DW is enabled
I filled this bug with those patches already installed.
Okay, but I think that we're not going to (intentionally) do anything about it that those patches don't already do for Firefox 4. (It might change for other reasons, though.)
Dao confirmed that this is an issue.
Peter, can you create new screenshots and attach them to this bug.
Isn't this simply a version of "DirectWrite font rasterization is different from GDI font rasterization"? As such, I think it's probably expected behavior; that's just how the platform works.

Hmm, looks like you're getting grayscale rather than subpixel AA on the DW version. Does it make any difference if you apply Roc's patch from bug 613696?
Dunno how to apply patch. Is there a tryserver build?
(In reply to comment #12) > Dunno how to apply patch. Is there a tryserver build? Not as far as I know, so I just pushed one. It'll be a few hours, but if all goes well it should eventually appear at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/tryserver-builds/jkew@mozilla.com-5ef63e199d0f.
Nope, still the same.
Fixed by bug 622482.
