There is a difference in rendering when the latest Windows 7 updates are applied. I think that'll be enough to resolve this appropriately.

Okay, but I think that we're not going to (intentionally) do anything about it that those patches don't already do for Firefox 4. (It might change for other reasons, though.)

Isn't this simply a version of "DirectWrite font rasterization is different from GDI font rasterization"? As such, I think it's probably expected behavior; that's just how the platform works.

Hmm, looks like you're getting grayscale rather than subpixel AA on the DW version. Does it make any difference if you apply Roc's patch from bug 613696?

Not as far as I know, so I just pushed one. It'll be a few hours, but if all goes well it should eventually appear at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/tryserver-builds/jkew@mozilla.com-5ef63e199d0f.
