a page was loading slowly, so the new visual status text was visible. while this was happening i hit ctrl-f and started typing. nothing showed up! and then when the page finished loading and the status text went way, the find text i'd typed all showed up. i haven't yet reproduced it as badly as that time, but in the few subsequent tries, i definitely was seeing lag where what i typed didn't show up until a second later.

Are you sure this is connected to the status text and not just general lack or responsiveness while a page is loading?

The scenario where the text popped into the textbox at the same time the page finished loading(and status text disappeared) happened several times. The status text and the find bar text box are visually near each other, which could be tricking me.
