This bug is for determining the styling of tab groups on Windows. Attached is a screen shot that tries using: background-image: url("chrome://browser/skin/tabview/grain.png"), -moz-linear-gradient(center top , rgb(204, 217, 234), rgb(199, 213, 231)); for the groups, with them appearing on top of a glass background. Stephen: what do you think?

Alex, two questions: 1. are you hoping to get this through for fx4? Just so we have an idea of the priority. 2. the screenshot there has an opaque background. Is that what you meant by glass? Adjusting title to match the proposal, as I understand it. Alex, please feel free to change it. I just want to make it more specific.
Summary: Style tab groups on windows → Style background of tab groups on windows
Alex, I tried this, so: I think, the new tab groups background color looks strange with some wallpapers behind the firefox window. It's too dark. But keeping the background color and applying only the "grain" background image, looks amazing for me! Thanks.

>1. are you hoping to get this through for fx4? Just so we have an idea of the >priority. yeah, if we have time. Otherwise not a huge priority. >2. the screenshot there has an opaque background. Is that what you meant by >glass? Yeah, that's the current style of tab view on Windows (7/vista). It's been getting pretty positive feedback so far. Displaying a complex background bleeding through can make the UI feel a bit more chaotic, but it also feels light, and creates a clear separation between browser level and tab level (in terms of z-order). That was changed in bug 591652.
Alex, could you attach a patch for ui-review?shorlander ?
Priority: -- → P4
Alex, if you (or someone else) could make a patch, perhaps we could get this approved post-beta12.

I'm OOTO office at the moment, but if fryn has time he might be able to take it.
I have softblockers that affect primary UI, so I wouldn't count on me getting to this.
We'll keep it on our "final" schedule just in case, and if you don't get to it, then we'll make a new decisions :)

Panorama has been removed from Firefox 45, currently in Beta and scheduled for release on March 7th. As such, I'm closing all existing Panorama bugs. If you are still using Panorama, you will see a deprecation message in Firefox 44, and when 45 is released your tab group data will be migrated to bookmarks, with a folder for each group. There are also a few addons offering similar functionality. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tab-groups-removal for more info. We're removing Panorama because it has extremely low usage (about 0.01% of users), and has a large number of bugs and usability issues. The cost of fixing all those issues is far too high to justify, and so we'll instead be focusing our time and energy on improving other parts of Firefox.
