User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.14) Gecko/20110218 Firefox/3.6.14 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.14) Gecko/20110218 Firefox/3.6.14 as i understand it, firefox sync (weave) used to sync cookies. i have no idea why this was removed because i would love this feature. i have so many computers and now my phone running firefox, it would just make life so much easier. Reproducible: Always sorry if this has been requested before. i did a lot of searches and found nothing.

Ed wrote in a Groups post a year ago: Weave used to support cookie sync with the old architecture, but the code hasn't been updated yet. But it might be easier to refresh it than adding a brand new dataset to sync. There might have been other reasons for no longer syncing cookies... Ed?

Anant might have been the original author of cookie sync for webdav? There were various issues with syncing session cookies (but isn't that desired?)
It might have been a combination of some sites having cookies synced and others weren't synced yet, so some sites were breaking in odd ways. But it was already gone by the time I started hacking on Sync.
Summary: bring back cookie syncing in firefox sync → Sync cookies

maybe some official addon for adding cookie sync again?
(In reply to Alexander Schier from comment #4) > maybe some official addon for adding cookie sync again? It could be done, but I doubt we'd want to support it.
why not? would be useful for many people. when its a problem with storage space on mozilla servers ... it would okay when its only supported on own sync-servers.
Nothing to do with space, and everything to do with potentially destroying your browsing experience. I have little confidence in being able to reconcile simultaneous changes to your Facebook session cookie, for example. That means data loss.
maybe with a whitelist. how hard would it be for some external extension author to get started with this? would this (sync data, access cookies) be possible with a jetpack extension?
A Sync API for Jetpack has been discussed as something we would like to provide at some point. I don't believe we currently have a bug tracking it because we are currently doing major refactoring of Sync and there would be no movement on that feature for many months.
any progress here?
Cookie sync is not currently on the roadmap.
Is this something we want to end up doing for Metro Sync?
