Several SUMO questions point to people being confused by password popups during setup. E.g., https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/798045 We need to make this clearer.
Additionally, it would be nice for the Master Password dialog to have *some* text which says what the heck it's for.
Oh, if only this were possible.

(In reply to Richard Newman [:rnewman] from comment #1) > it'd be nice for the Master Password dialog to have *some* text which says what the heck it's for I hope you also meant the following, because in this case I don't have to file another bug > Master password prompt should mention that it's required for Sync to perform, when it's called by > Sync. Because it's not obvious at all where did this prompt came from. All normal user knows is > that master password prompt is usually called by web pages with login/password fields
Depends on: 432020
Component: Firefox Sync: UI → Sync
Product: Cloud Services → Firefox

When I launch Firefox, it retrieves hundreds of tabs but only loads the last one. After 1-5 seconds the master password prompt opens ; if the browsing hasn't triggered it (I didn't), it must come from an extension, I don't know which one nor what for, so I'm basically blind to give my consent.

I think it would be very useful to display what has triggered the master password prompt :

  • which url/domain from which tab
  • which extension (for which url/domain if any)
  • what else
Severity: normal → S3
