Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Click on Bookmarks menu entry to display long list of bookmarks. The display overlaps the status bar, empty space, and the Windows Taskbar. When the bookmarks list is closed (by selection or otherwise), the bookmarks list text that overlaps these areas is not completely erased leaving residual text fragments on (and slightly below) the status bar as well as on the top of the Windows Taskbar. This can be cleaned up by expanding the height of the Windows Taskbar and then contracting it again.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Bookmarks Menu
2. That's all it takes
3.
Actual Results:
Bookmarks display properly but the display does overlap the bottom of the FF window (including the status bar), space between the FF window and the Windows 7 Taskbar.
Closing the bookmarks display leaves residue behind on the status bar and the Windows 7 taskbar.
Expected Results:
FF should leave no residue behind.
Condition can be cleared up by temporarily increasing the vertical height of the taskbar, then restoring it to its normal size.

Does it happen in safe mode: http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
We had this previously reported being caused by an add-on.

I don't know about safe mode. I'm using the following add-on's:
IE VIEW 1.4.5.1, AdBlock Plus 1.3.5, NoScript 2.0.9.9, Ancestry.com Advanced image viewer 1.0.0.1, Java Console 6.0.24.
I will re-try it in safe mode.

I just tried it in safe mode. Bookmarks seem to work properly. (Took me awhile to figure out how to open them) Firefox severely crippled in this mode. No menu, etc. Not really usable.

Enable them one-by-one to find the causing one.

I disabled them all and restarted. I tried bookmarks BEFORE enabling any of them and get the same symptoms. I didn't have to enable any add-on to get it to happen. I guess there's some difference between safe mode and merely all add-ons disabled.
Hope this helps.

I could guess could be related to hardware acceleration? Try to temporarily disable hw acceleration in Options / Advanced. Be sure to restart browser and retry, any change?
Are you graphic drivers updated?

Follow-up: I disabled ALL "Plug-In's" AND "Extensions" and still get the same results.
There are no "Appearance" type Add-On's.
I do NOT run in full-screen mode.
Hope this helps.

I've just downloaded and installed the latest driver package from AMD for the video card. It's an ATI RADEON HD 5500 series card.
Problem remains.

I've just disabled HW acceleration and that seems to have stopped the symptoms. Bummer. I guess I live with this for awhile.
Thanks,
Will

Ah, then I'm moving to Core / Widget, looks like a problem related to graphics
