Currently you're presented with full thumbnails for tabs, but they don't actually fit with the rest of the panel. Perhaps allow users go for a more streamlined tab display as an option.

I'd actually rephrase that to say that while the current approach doesn't stylistically fit with the rest of the side panels that go for a very flat feel in their approach to buttons, while the tabs almost burst out at the user as a layer on top. This doesn't allow for a streamlined approach to browsing a large number of tabs, especially as more tabs eat away at screen real-estate. Bug 651821 helps to deal with the screen real-estate issue. However to further streamline this approach, we should provide users the ability to minimise the graphical display of tabs.

On Fennec Native the UI for tabs has been changed. I am not sure any work will be done on tabs for XUL version anymore. Setting to new and waiting for UX input to see if this will be a Wont Fix.

As I mentioned before, any community member is more than welcome to pick up the bugs in this product and component that you have been recently commenting on. The teams at Mozilla are not focusing on XUL anymore.
