Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20110508 Firefox/4.0.6 PaleMoon/4.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20110508 Firefox/4.0.6 PaleMoon/4.0.6
Back in 3.6 I used to close tabs after I clicked on a download link and the download dialog appeared asking me if it should open or save the file. Now, it seems that if I close the same tab or a blank one it creates before or after that dialog appears, when I finally choose what to do, it just closes without starting the download.
I should also mention that I set the browser to "Always ask me where to save the files"
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to http://www.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=5787&t=0&i=1 (Firefox Installer) for example
2. Wait for that dialog to appear
3. Close the tab from where the download started and then click the "Save File" button
Actual Results:
Nothing happens, the download dialog just closes without asking where to save the file
Expected Results:
The file download should continue

Works for me with new, clean profiles.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:6.0a1) Gecko/20110519 Firefox/6.0a1
Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode?

How about with a new, empty profile?

Are you able to reproduce the issue with a native Mozilla Firefox?

Ok. Now on a clean profile it works. Maybe it has something to do with some about:config settings. Anyone know which?

Man, it would be nice to be able to edit personal comments.
Actually no, it didn't actually work as I wanted it to. I forgot that the default profile always downloads to the "Download" folder automatically. After I set it to "Always ask me... " the problem persisted.
So, download dialog shows up asking what to do> before clicking save file and OK close the tab which started the download> click ok (and the dialog asking where to save to file will not appear)
