This is related to bug 554174. In cases where the browser won't start, there should be a command line invocation of firefox that will give parsable about:support and about:plugins reports for support purposes

That sounds hard, since about:support/plugins can't run if the app won't start. Maybe they could be periodically written to a file. Then the user could look at it manually, or the command-line handler, if given a flag, could launch it or dump it to the terminal, assuming app startup could get that far.
