I'm filing a couple of bugs regarding the new Data Manager based on feedback in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=2228567 following the 2.1 release. One point of critics was that the Data Manager offers only per-domain information, which is good if you have lots of cookies from various domains and want to target specific ones. However, it was noted that browsing through the list requires now to select each domain individually.
The asterisk (*) category is providing access to information which isn't related to any specific domain, which leaves at least the cookie tab empty (I only see "Form Data" and "Permissions" selectable). That's technically correct but not necessarily expected by a user associating the wildcard with "all". Thus, this selection could be utilized to provide an access to "all domains" data, useful if people don't have much stored (e.g., clearing out cookies when closing SeaMonkey by default) and want to access the complete list all at once.
Depends on: DataManager
Someone *please* fix this bug for Seamonkey 2.2. I absolutely HATE the new data manager. I used to be able to display all stored passwords at once, but now I can't any more! This was really handy when my work password changed and I had to delete it from the Password Manager.
There seems to be one more problem with the data manager:
With the old data manager, you could sort the entries by the kind of permission: If you had lots of entries, you could easily see wich sites / domains were allowed to store cookies (either temporary or permament). No need to bother with the sites that were not allowed to set cookies, but you saw at once with sites were allowed to set cookies, and thus needed special attention.
Furthermore, you could then select several of these entries at once, an by example delete them.
The new data manager gives me no clue (or at least no overview), which domains do store cookies, and might be taken care.

Sorting the permissions entries again is actually handled in bug 670681.
Yes it should. Either asterisk, empty line (i have one in domain list), a new "[All domains]" option or "select all" capability should let user to view all preferences (cookies, passwords etc according to selected tab) in the right pane. It already has the Website column not actually needed now then selecting one site in a time.
