In Thunderbird 5, I often see a message indicating that the attachment size of my message is "unknow" (see attached screenshot). I don't understand why Thunderbird doesn't display these attachments size.
It is an IMAP account and the folder is configure to download all message locally.

It looks like this is a only an issue on IMAP, not local folders or when opening the .eml. This is probably some sort of obscure libmime issue, since I don't believe there's any difference between IMAP and local messages once you get to the UI.

Tentatively taking this, since I'm probably the one who knows the most about how sizes get emitted from libmime (except perhaps for protz).

Works for me: Mozilla IMAP email, Mac OS X 10.6 , TB 5
Is this a Windows or Linux specific problem or am I missing something?

Actually, scratch my previous comment. I was on an old Miramar build. I don't see this on trunk anymore (on Linux).

Hmmm... I see. If I copy the message into a local folder and then move it to an IMAP folder, I see it. Hitting "view source" on the message resolves it though, so I'm guessing that the email hasn't been fully downloaded by the time it's opened.

Jim is right in comment 8!
Steps to reproduce:
1. Move test message to local folders
2. Move test message from local folders and back to an IMAP folder
3. Message viewer then shows "at least 903 bytes" rather than the full attachment size of 200 or so KB

Based on these tests, I'm guessing this is related to IMAP, which I know almost nothing about, so I'm going to unassign myself from this bug.

This seems to be fixed in TB6beta, although I do not see why. Maybe we can close this bug.
