User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0
Build ID: 20110622232052
Steps to reproduce:
On Linux (have tried Debian squeeze and Ubuntu 11), with no window manager:
1. Go to www.facebook.com (or any page with html drop downs).
Using the mouse, click on any drop down on the page.
2. Click on any firefox menu. Try to select an item with the mouse.
Actual results:
1. The menu appears at the top left of the screen then may move to the correct location but disappears when you try to select an item using the mouse pointer. You can select using the keyboard. (see attached screen dump)
2. The menu appears in the correct location but disappears when you try to select anything with the mouse. You can select using the keyboard. Note, sometimes this works ok but most of the time it doesn't.
Expected results:
The dropdown menu should appear below (or above) the box that was clicked.
You should be able to select an item with the mouse.
This did work ok in ff 3.
The problem occurs in ff 4, 5 and 6.
ff7 and 8 are slightly different - the menu appear at the top left of the screen but then move to the correct location. Still unable to select with the mouse though.
If I start a window manager then everything behaves as it should.

I've played around with the following versions and also experienced the menu problems:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:6.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0a2) Gecko/20110713 Firefox/7.0a2
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0a1) Gecko/20110714 Firefox/8.0a1
To select entries I had to open the menu with the mouse and then select the item with the keyboard - otherwise the menu disappeared. Using just mouse, or just keyboard, seems to be a problem.
Observations:
1. I updated Aurora to the latest version from inside Aurora, and after the semi-automatic restart it was possible to use the mouse without the menus disappearing. But when I restarted Aurora the next time the problem was back.
2. I couldn't see the the mouse pointer in the Profile Manager, but I saw things toggle the gui when I hovered the invisible mouse pointer over them.

Bug 671277 at least looks like a duplicate of what I experienced in comment 1.

I hope the position of the select is addressed by bug 665540.
Let's track the menu focus issue in bug 671277.
