The new logging approach is pretty sweet. However, the .log files mean that Aurora wants to know which app I should open them in, and opening in the browser is not an option that I can find. This is kind of a hassle and I suspect it could be fixed by just making them .txt files. Or am I just missing something neat in application preferences?

If it helps, it appears that FireFox stores all "text" files for accounts on Linux, Mac, Win with the .txt extension.
Examples:
../urlclassifierkey3.txt
../weave/logs/verbose-log.txt

Apparently, because I have not seen this problem on either Windows, OS X or Android...

Well, the latter one is written by Sync, so this is circumstancial evidence at best :)
I'm inclined to WONTFIX this as I don't see a problem, or a benefit. You know what, let me just do that. Please REOPEN if you violently disagree or if I'm missing something :)

We ended up doing this in bug 673309, which turned out to be a good idea because of Fennec (bug 673674).
