Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:5.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0.1
Build ID: 20110707182747
Steps to reproduce:
Did a clean install (not an upgrade) of Mac OS 10.7 and Firefox 5.0.1.
Actual results:
Firefox does not remember any log-in IDs or passwords, despite "remember passwords" being on. I have "Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked" on and Firefox set to never remember history. The same settings worked fine under SnowLeopard.
Expected results:
IDs and passwords should be remembered, as they used to be.

Gavin, can you still reproduce with Firefox 6 or 7 beta? I haven't seen this before and can't reproduce myself (using Nightly). Clean install vs upgrade shouldn't matter.

Hi Paul. I'm still seeing this with 6.0.1.
Where does Firefox store these items? I've run a disk-permissions check and repair, but it made no difference.

They are stored in your profile: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxx.default/signons.sqlite.
You said this was a clean install. Does that mean you wiped your old Firefox install and set it up new again? If so you could try deleting signons.sqlite (since it should in theory be empty). But I think we would still prompt, just fail to save the data in the case of a corrupted file.

I mean the entire computer hard drive was wiped. I installed the OS (Lion) onto a blank computer, then installed Firefox.
I'll try deleting that file and see what happens.

I deleted the entire Profiles directory and restarted Firefox. Still happens. I never even get prompted to remember passwords, and credentials aren't retained.

The system that was demonstrating this problem went bad, and my other systems aren't exhibiting it. So unfortunately I can't provide any further info or troubleshooting.

Since this worked for me and you can't reproduce, I'm marking WFM. Please reopen if you can reproduce again.
