in going from post to post in news and in some case email (but not all time) Spinning Beachball apears and stays on the screen and does not disappear after message is completely downloaded. Note although I am using a 56K connection, I have no problems with connection using Communicator 4.7.6. so don't feel its a connection problem.
Phillip, is the spinning beach ball a busy cursor? You need to give more information of exactly what you are doing step by step in order to reproduce this bug. What build are you using? If we cannot reproduce this bug then it will be marked invalid.
Friday Morning 8:30 am Build # 10: 2001020208. Spining Beach Ball Icon (doesn't appear actually to spin) switching from one window to another especially when switching from one newsgroup to another. Spins while waiting for message headers to download. But the remains on screen after the message headers are downloaded. Same will happen on a Large email with graphics such as news letter from infobeat, Hp, Netcenter tech daily. If you move mouse cursor switches back to arrow pointer then switches back to Beach ball when you stop. Using G4-500 256 mb Ram Macintosh ATI 128 Rage Pro AGP Graphics Card.
Worksforme using MacOS 9.1, build ID 2001020808, on a PowerMac G4 with a 500mhz processor and 256 megs of RAM on a LAN connection. Not sure what it could be for you, but definitely works for me.

Same machine, same OS, strange that I'm not seeing it.
addition to previous Comments. Using OS 9.0.4
Sheela, I couldn't reproduce this on OS 9.1, can you try, if you have OS 9.0.4? Thanks!
using buildid: 2001021904 on mac -os 9.0.4 worksforme. Did not see any unusual behavior.
Marking worksforme. Sorry Philip neither I nor Sheela are seeing "But the remains on screen after the message headers are downloaded." On my machine and hers the busy cursor goes away after network activity.
