User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:5.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0.1 Build ID: 20110707182747 Steps to reproduce: When I use Reply to message (via shortcut keyboard or menu) or when I use New message (via keyboard or menu). Actual results: Thunderbird hangs. It's impossible to compose a message or select destination from address book. If I restart thunderbird the issue temporarily resolves and then reappears. Expected results: I can use shortcuts or menù to respond a message or compose a new message.

there's been a few reports of this on gsfn. perhaps +1 also in bugzilla.

Note: happens for me most of the time on 10.6.8 (since last upgrade to 5.0). Restarting seems to work around it for a few minutes.
Maurizio, sandy, did this happen to you in version 3?
Hi Wayne. No. It did not happen with version 3. A "strange" note: I noticed that the hang (to Reply) appears to be related to the fact T5 can not put names in the "To" field. Today when I tried to take a snapshot with "Shift Option 4" to show this the problem seemed to resolve and T. allowed me to respond to email. Again now "taking a snapshot" worked for me to permit Thunderbird to reply an email.
related to bug 671530, or bug 676204?
