in bug 688104 we're examining all uses of MOZ_GFX_OPTIMIZE_MOBILE, of which this is one. Does this optimization still have the desired effect?

This isn't on any critical paths anymore. It would have caused artifacts in the old frontend anyway. Let's just nuke it.
