This one really gets in the way of working on the same imap account from multiple locations. 1. Run mozilla on one machine, in my case a linux box. Setup an imap account, and receive message on said account. Read in mozilla. DO NOT EXIT MOZILLA. 2. Connect to same imap account from a different machine. In my case, I have tried reading the imap account from a mac os x machine using the default mail program and the fizzilla port. You cannot delete any messages on the imap account. The inability to delete is an example of a wider inability to do anything. I just downloaded and attempted this on mozilla 0.8, and the bug is present in this version too. It has been around ever since the ability to automatically query for incoming mail was introduced. So I'm guessing that mozilla is not closing the imap session after fetching mail.
Reporter still a problem in the latest nightlies?
Keywords: qawanted
Problem still exists in 0.8.1 release. The latest nightlies died on startup on my linux box, so I haven't been able to test it out against them.
I can confirm that Mozilla (on win2k, for example) keeps an IMAP connection open, but this is the same behavior as Netscape 4.x. Whether this is a Bad Thing depends on what IMAP server you're running and how well it deals with locking and so forth. UW-IMAP doesn't cope well, and so I am careful to log out from one system before opening mail from another. Exchange server deals with it more gracefully. So the question is, is it not supposed to keep the connection open?
P.S. It does disconnect when you push the disconnect (Work Offline) widget.

keeping the IMAP connections seems to be normal and won't stop the IMAP server. But the inability to delete seems to be another problem with the latest 2001041804 and earlier releases. I can delete IMAP (its on the server) but it has lately been impossible to delete any POP3 mail! I have multiple IMAP/POP accounts.
Dupe of 68126 or vice-versa?
I actually cannot reproduce this problem. I am able to delete messages from the same UW IMAP account for multiple clients. Marking as worksforme. Please reopen this bug if I misunderstand this problem or problem is still existing.
