Mozilla 4.x changes it's icon image and "iconic name" (icon image/name shown when iconized) based on it's state - like that the mailer indicates that there is "new mail" etc. It would be nice to see the same feature in Mozilla5, too - and maybe in a little bit more "extended" way... I would vote for the following states and matching images: a) Browser: - page loading in progress (what about gfx progress bar in image showing the xx% "to go" ??) - page loading finished (success/failure/stopped !?) - empty page b) Messenger: - not logged-in (pop/imap) and no drafts to work on - not logged-in but some drafts to work on - logged-in but no new mail and no drafts to work on - logged-in but no new mail but some drafts to work on - new email arrived - new email arrived and some drafts to work on c) Editor/message editor: - new page/email - new page/email where changes have not been saved - sending email/saving page: d) Bookmarks: <does bookmark file have any "states" ?> e) History: <does history have any "states" ?> f) searching messages/history/address book: - not searching - search in progress g) Download window: - loading - download paused - download finished (success/failure !?) Note that this RFE should be implemented for all toolkits (GTK+/Xlib/Qt/Win32/Mac etc.)...

w32 nc4 doesn't really do this, and i think that it will somewhat interfere w/ the other iconography stuff we're going to do. for now i suggest we wait until the basics land.

Should the window icon be changed being based on favicon (website icon) instead? This would make minimized windows (usually belonging to different websites) far easier to distinguish. Or is it a separate bug potentially conflicting with this one?
