Hello:
I looked but did not see this and think y'all should know about it.
If I check the Preferences/Navigator/Bookmarks/ 'Always Ask me to choose a title
and folder when adding a new Bookmark', moz doesn't.
If I UNcheck the 'Always Ask me to choose...' it does 'Ask Me'.
Very odd.
If this is really a bugless feature, then perhaps the words ''Do Not'' should be
in front of the sentence for the check box.
That would work for me, since it(Ask) should be the default anyway, imo.:)
This occurs ( always reprodicible ) with mozilla 0.8 rebuilt from source RPM(
mozilla-0.8-1mdk.src.rpm ) from the MandrakeSoft cooker source files dir on
Linux-Mandrake 7.2 (kernel 2.2.17-21mdk) using gcc 2.95.2 . I do not run cooker
and NO cooker binaries built with gcc2.96 are installed now or ever.
Of course, maybe Mandrake broke this. Nah, they wouldn't do that.:)
There are several other problems but I don't know if you want them since this
is 'home' built moz, non-standard from somebody else's src.rpm... It's my first
post at mozilla bugzilla. Be nice to virgins week, ya know?
If you need some more info, ask.

BTW, the rebuild took about an hour on a Dual 450Mhz PIII 256MB SMP box. I have
never seen that many 'warnings' on a program compilation before in my life AND
still had it compile and run! I guess that means Good Work! and Thanks!! for
the browser/emailer - it's looking better all the time. It is really nice that
so many things work now!

Confirmed that this is reversed in linux build 2001-02-25-21.
Probably an error in the bookmarks code, not the preferences code (since the
preference is correctly set to
"user_pref("browser.bookmarks.add_without_dialog", true);"

OK. Looking into this further:
1) The preference is named browser.bookmarks.add_without_dialog
2) The bookmark code correctly uses this pref based on its name -- when it's
true no dialog is shown, when it's false the dialog is shown
3) The name of the pref and the wording in preferences do not agree.
Based on that, over to preferences to change their wording. Perhaps "Do not ask
me to choose ..." or "Automatically choose ..."?

Sorry folks...I looked but did not find bug#67884. Search engines=boo!hiss!
Still, as my last 2$(inflation) worth, it seems that changing the wording to
"Do not ask me to choose a title and folder when adding a Bookmark"
by adding " Do not " and changing the capital "A" in "Ask" to small " a " would
be the quickest fix.
Considering that the statement:
"Mozilla will ask you to choose a title and folder when adding a new bookmark."
is immediately above the problem dialog, it makes perfect logic, if there is
such a thing a perfect logic. I think the coder might have even meant for it to
be that way.
And Thanks! for your attention to this.
