User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 Build ID: 20110928134238 Steps to reproduce: Search for mails, then go to search-result - window containing the list of the mails. In search-result-windows containing the list of found mails tb offers the possibility to show more columns, and also the option to use the column-selection for other folders (and even their subfolders). Well, within a normal folder, it does not make much sense to show the column containing the folder-name which is known anyway; this makes only sense in search-folders. So in this list of the found mails I want to see at first glance, in which folder each mail is stored. Therefore I added the column containing the folder-name. Actual results: This worked, but at the next search, tb forgets this configuration, and the folder-name is again missing. Expected results: So what I miss is: the possibility to set the wanted columns for the search-results once, so that this is remembered even after new start of tb! Or, in search result - lists show the column with the folder-name as default! Thanks for that great product!!
This should be a duplicate of either bug 522861 or the more specific bug 540315.

(In reply to rsx11m from comment #1) > This should be a duplicate of either bug 522861 or the more specific bug > 540315. No, bug 522861 is about existing columns that are missing from column picker in search results, and bug 540315 is not specific, at all, I've just returned from a lot of work trying to clear up there (after being mislead into that corner from here...). Imo, comment 0 talks about global search, proceeds to "Open as list", from there, column picker, and picks location column. Unfortunately, location column isn't there by default (Bug 570787), and after adding manually, it's not remembered for the next search (Bug 528044). Plus (related, but slightly OT), folder name column is insufficient (there might be multiple folders with same name on same account, or on different accounts, so we also need a way of showing the full folder path, do we have a bug for that?); and, when seeing folder location displayed, there is still no direct way to go there (Bug 686851). So, per comment 1, Expected results, we can duplicate against either Bug 528044, or Bug 570787. Lucky draw, I'll pick Bug 528044, because Bug 528044 is more general and more helpful because it can serve as a workaround for more specific Bug 570787, but not vice versa.

(In reply to rsx11m from comment #1) > This should be a duplicate of either [column picker] bug 522861 Fwiw, rsx11m is right in that comment 0 does talk about details of the column picker, but they are just serving to outline the main problem: (In reply to tommyads from comment #0) > offers the possibility to show more columns, and also the option to use the > column-selection for other folders (and even their subfolders). Well, within > a normal folder, it does not make much sense to show the column containing > the folder-name which is known anyway; this makes only sense in > search-folders. Iow, reporter was looking for a way to remember display of folder location column for search results, and he tried "Apply columns to..." from there, only to realize that it doesn't make sense to apply folder column (from search results) to normal folders (in 3-pane), and that we don't offer applying columns to, say, all search results (which might be a worthwile addition; still different from bug 522861). But in expected results, that line is not followed up.

FTR: Adding full folder path column to grid-style message lists, that's Bug 522768 - Search Results: Add "Folder path" column / Missing full path tooltip in "Location" column (Faceted Search: Open as List, Open in Conversation, Saved Searches, Search Messages; Main 3-pane Window) [containing folder]
