Mozilla does not seem to allow the use of automatic proxy configuration files. When one of these is used, you are unable to navigate to URLs. Clicking on a link or manually entering a URL causes no action to occur. Mozilla does not hang or crash, it simply does nothing. This can be corrected by using the Manual Proxy Configuration. I am using Red Hat Linux 6.2, and the server is Apache 1.3.6 (with ApacheJServ/1.0). This bug has also been reproduced in Windows NT and Windows 95 (with Netscape 6). To reproduce this bug: 1) go to Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Proxies 2) Select the "automatic proxy configuration URL" radio button 3) enter an automatic proxy configuration file into the text box. 4) Press the "reload" button and click Okay. 5) Now try navigating to a URL of your choice (either by typing the URL directly into the location bar, or clicking a link) and you should find that nothing happens.
For me "Proxy auto-config" has never worked either Linux on Win98.
