Details
A video on youtube will play for quite a while greyed out before it fades in. This comes across as being unintentional and laggy.

Jeff: Does the <video> have the |controls| attribute set? This component would only apply if they have <video controls/>. Otherwise, it may be either part of the DOM fullscreen API (DOM: Core & HTML) or Core:Video/Audio.

YouTube use their own custom controls in their HTML5 player, they are using the HTML fullscreen API when it's available.
