Details
Suppose a user has entered a valid website name or a URL. Pressing <tab> will make FF search the that website using a search engine like Google.
Suppose, I want to search for a website named abc.com, then I enter abc.com in the URL and press <tab>, this will make FF enter the query with site:abc.com to Google.

Unfortunately <tab> is already a common key for changing focus. I think if you wanted to do something like this, you could set up a bookmark keyword search for an address similar to this, and just have a %s for inserting the search term.
I can't really see us doing this specifically in Firefox at this time, and there's been no other requests for it.

we actually have a few request, I don't think we'll do it same way as Chrome for the reasons Mark explained, but we are looking into possibilities.
